Summer Quenchers
Finally the hot summer sun has come and let us know it means business. After days of the heat I came to the conclusion that I needed some refreshing beverages to help cool down. Ice water happens to be the beverage of choice but sometimes I crave something more flavorful. We rarely have soda around which is a good thing because that stuff is no good to create habits with. Whereas we do not have soda sitting around we do have seltzer water. I have become fond of it, mostly due to the whole mojito thing a few summers back. Seltzer comes in handy for a make it yourself fruity summer soday beverage. I have a few favorites which are easy to make and yummy. By far the Dirty Apple Chini has been a hit I make for a nice afternoon drink. It is an excellent refreshing way to take a break on a hot day.
Pineapple pomegranate zinger
1/4 cup seltzer water
1/4 cup pineapple juice
2 Tablespoons pomegranate juice
Pour seltzer water into glass with some ice. Pour the pineapple juice mix into glass. Give it a quick stir and serve.
Mango-Lime Pop
1/4 cup mango nectar
1/4 cup seltzer water
1 tablespoon fresh squeezed lime juice
2 mint leaves, crushed
Pour all ingredients into a drink shaker. Gently shake to mix, strain into ice filled glass and serve.
Dirty Apple Chini from Canyon Ranch Nourish
2/3 cup apple cider
2 Tablespoons sparkling water
1 Tablespoon minced ginger
2 Tablespoons Chai concentrate
ice cubes
Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Shake and strain into a glass. Add ice and enjoy.
It helps to pour these drinks into a pretty glass. I find Martini glasses fun since I hardly use mine it just makes the drink a little more special. Go on, treat yourself to a little summer quencher.
