Nifty Ideas: Picking Blueberries
Another round of fantastic nifty ideas I have discovered. You too may become inspired by these nifty things and in turn create your own. If you have any of your own nifty ideas please share them with me I'd love to learn about what is nifty to you.
Picking blueberries is something we love to do. Not just love, we look forward to doing this every year that once summer rolls around we're checking our local farm for the pick date. We love blueberry pies, sauces, muffins, scones and everything. Most of all we love to eat them fresh. To have a good time we need to bring along a few things.
A packed lunch is a must. We spend a few hours in those fields of blueberry bushes so having lunch there is a great way to enjoy our day. I like to pack our food in a soft side cooler. Ours is a LLBean softpack family size cooler. It's several years old but still holding up quite well. It holds plenty of food and all the pockets make packing napkins and other little things so handy. We can toss in some sandwiches, drinks and a treat or two.
Being outside means keeping covered. We bring a decent hat (Life is Good chill caps) and our favorite sunscreen (Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Sunblock) to keep the sun from taking its toll on us.
A good wagon makes hauling everything up and down the rows so easy. It's better than lugging them around all day long. The wagon makes the work not so burdensome and allows us to move quickly around the bushes. And next year it'll hold that little baby while we pick.
We also like to bring along a spray bottle. Nothing fancy, a simple inexpensive spray bottle. We fill it with water keep it in the cooler and spritz ourselves as needed to cool down. It does wonders when you're out in that sunshine. They're also good for any 'ol hot outdoor event.
