NPS Hats: Great Sand Dunes National Park

 

Sunday afternoon we arrived to the Great Sand Dunes National Park.  I got a couple pictures of my first official NPS knitted hat in the wild. 

You can see the clouds coming in for the afternoon which makes the dunes look brighter and darker. Overall I thought the hat looked pretty similar to the landscape. We were not able to get a good distance picture. The park was doing roadwork paving which made it tricky to pull to the side and get pictures. We settled on a quick one outside the Visitor's Center.

We didn't have much time in the visitor's center since we arrived in the late afternoon.  I took a few pictures of the informational signs showing how these dunes formed. We had time to get in a hike before the sun set. The clouds rolled in midway through our hike cooling the day down significantly. We will be camping outside the park for the night.
